How to recover from a layoff

This is a tough one because it depends so much on the person and the situation they are in. I'm sure I handled being laid off very differently from most. I saw 3 rounds of layoffs in my first internship nearly 20 years ago and so my perspective on employment is different.

I think some of the more generic ways that help are:

• getting another position (obvious, I know)
• commiserating with other people who were laid off
