I’m in my first product management role, in the public sector, and I’m not feeling challenged. What do I do?

I’m new to product management and I’m working in the public and I feel like I’m not being challenged enough in my current role. I am stuck between two constraints - on one hand, I’m new to this line of work so I’m not sure how much responsibility to ask for how or to ask for it. On the other, I work in the public sector which comes with its own set of constraints for how we ship and iterate on our projects. Feeling a bit stuck on how to continue to make career progress.

I’d like to talk to anyone who’s been in a similar situation before and/or has experience working in the public or government sectors.
