I immigrated to the US when I was 11, and my parents are both blue collar workers who (still) know nothing about engineering and the tech industry. I was accepted to UPenn's Engineering school (shoutout to QuestBridge if you know you know!) to pursue chemical engineering because I loved my AP chemistry class in high school, and I quickly learned that is not what I want to do at all. I somehow stumbled my way into the computer graphics program at Penn, and I only took my first algorithm and data structure class in my junior year of college. I learned a lot navigating my career as a software engineer and went from not even knowing how to do easy level leetcode questions to now working at some of my dream companies. I know it can be really hard to be the first person in your family to pave this path in tech for yourself, and if you are on that same path please don't hesitate to reach out and chat!

I have previously worked as a software engineer at Etsy and JPMorgan, and I have learned a lot navigating my career in tech companies of all industries and sizes as the first person in my family to go to college and work as an engineer. Mentoring was a big part of my time in college as I was president of a mentorship group and an residential advisor for freshmen at UPenn, so I hope I can give back to the community and help more junior engineers grow their career.
