In 2016, I switched my career from a Commercial Artist to a Fullstack Software Engineer. Since then, I have specialized in using MongoDB, ExpressJS, ReactJS/ReduxJS, and NodeJS to build apps that are test-driven, data-driven, cross-platform, and production-ready. I also deploy and maintain these apps on remote headless Linux servers. Additionally, I prioritize building web accessible applications that meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines AA/AAA standards. Outside of work, I love walking my dog Nico, building my own desktop computers and watching sci-fi/mystery/thriller movies. In addition, I am passionate about contributing to open-source projects and giving back to the web development community. I'm currently a volunteer 1-on-1 mentor and code reviewer at Code the Dream for ESL (English as a Second Language) students who are aspiring software engineers!

Had a great time talking to Matt about the current job market and breaking into tech. I appreciated hearing about his experiences over the last few years, and how to view the landscape right now. Excellent advice re: mentorship as well.
