πŸ““About me

I'm currently the head of product at a small startup that helps researchers gather and manage data from consumer wearables. My first product job was at The New York Times, where I worked on messaging products and tools. This included SMS, chatbots, on-platform messaging, e-mail and the tools that helped create them! The first half of my career was spent as a reporter and editor, so I know a thing or two about career pivots. πŸ™‚

I've been passionate about product management for more than seven years and in that time, I've had some great people take me beneath their wings to teach me how to be great at what I do. I'm eager to take what I've learned, channel my own mentors, and help first-time product managers and the product-curious navigate this world that I've fallen in love with. Below are some of my specialties, but I'd love to connect with you about other things, as well, so don't hesitate to reach out! I can't wait to meet you.

I really enjoyed our conversation. Hailey is extremely thoughtful and intentional about the advice she provides. She made it a point to really understand what my interests, concerns, and passion areas were before providing feedback. I left our session with a list of tasks and resources.

Hi! I'm looking for a mentor or guidance in transitioning from a manager/ coordinator and scientist/ researcher to a PM role in healthtech or biotech. Thanks in advance and I look forward to hearing from you soon. Cheers!

Hi Elizabeth! Are you still looking for help navigating this change? I work with academic researchers in my current role as a PM and have heard this refrain a lot, especially at conferences like the Society for Behavioral Medicine's annual meeting. I've chatted with a few folks over the past couple of years who are looking to move out of the lab and into industry, and would be happy to do the same for you if you're still on this path! In the meantime, here are some really quick tips that helped me navigate my own pivot into product:

  • Get very honest with yourself about what you love about healthtech/biotech and whether it's a place you want to stay. The world is wide open when you pivot! If you know you want to stay in this space, the next step is to
  • Identify three to five places you admire a lot and would love to land, then start thinking about ways to network into those places.
  • While you're doing all that work, really immersing yourself in product content is a way to keep you motivated and even crystallize some of your own thinking around how product is done. Having a point of view on the art of product in interviews is great! I recommend any of the Book Apart books and Lenny's Podcast for starters.

Feel free to reach out for a session, if you'd like, too! Best of luck.
