I got into tech after getting degree in accounting and stayed in the enterprise software development industry in last 20 years or so on various positions with emphasis on efficiency and optimization. In the last 5 years I'm transitioning to data-oriented engineering roles: data analysis, analytics engineering. While I have a background in consulting, my favorite roles are the product development where one can find so many opportunitis to make our online world a better place.

I've been recently layed off at my current employer. Startups is a fast-paced environment with high demand on working hours, so in betweeen jobs I have more availability to give back to comunity, and synthesize my past experience to make it easier reusable.

I call myself a software gardener because I believe that software is grown rather than built. That said, programming has never been my deepest passion. I work with software because I love the process of building, improving, and maintaining, even if the result isn't as tangible as a garden. Luckily, I figured this out early when I started modding games for an online Dungeons and Dragons community. It was a heady feeling to get home from high school and dive right into work with an international and multilingual team. Since then, I've used programming as a tool to holistically work on interesting problems regardless of the domain, the stack, and whether I'm even hands-to-keyboard. I've bounced from front end, to automation, to product, to management, to backend, to all of the above. Since I've always loved the intricacies of topics like law, I've ended up spending a ton of time on international commerce. That said, I've always tried to balance it by focusing on education and community. I've spent years teaching and mentoring high schoolers through various nonprofits; my mom is a teacher and the apple didn't fall far from the tree. In addition, I'm an organizer with local groups like QNS Collaborative (arts), 31st Ave Open Street Collective (community), Band of Noobs (tabletop roleplaying) and the Astoria Food Pantry (mutual aid).

My mom is a teacher, so I guess mentoring runs in the family. I've been involved with education for years; teaching programming to high schoolers through various nonprofits. I think that education and mentorship work best with consistency. I'd love it if mentoring wasn't just a single conversation. I'm a big believer in the give and take that comes with mutual aid and would love it if you come back for more sessions!

I’m a Lead Software Developer at Stride Consulting with over six years of experience in TypeScript, Node.js, and React. I focus on improving user experience, accessibility, and performance. At present, I consult as a full-stack developer for a restaurant reservation startup. Immediately prior to Stride, I attended the Grace Hopper Program at Fullstack Academy, where I also became a teaching fellow. Before Grace Hopper, I spent over 20 years in design, administration, and digital media production, at companies such as The Museum of Modern Art, Amplify, Macmillan, and PEN American Center. I bring this creative and technical experience to my current work, with a strong focus on inclusivity and team growth.
